Here is the cast list for I Never Saw Another Butterfly.
Congratulations!! Your auditions were amazing! It was very hard for me to cast this year because of all the amazing talent we have.
Some people have different characters in the first and second parts of the play. I will explain how everything is going to work in the show, when your specific rehearsals are, and what each character does on Monday. Come ready to ask any questions you have.
Everyone who auditioned was cast in the play. If something got lost from my hand written notes to the typed copy please let me know. [email protected]

What do I need to Prepare for the Audition?
If you have other questions please email them to me I will email you back and I will post them and their answers the website for other parents.
- Please choose from one of the following monologues to audition with. I do expect it to be memorized. Do not audition with another monologue. I need to see these monologues. (Remember I am looking for people that follow directions.)These Pieces should be Memorized and Polished!!
- Bring back page of this packet and your grades with you.
- Make sure you are on time to your rehearsal time.
- Do not bring friends into the audition with you. It is a closed audition so only the auctioneers are allowed into the class during the auditions.
- See attached Rehearsal Schedule.
- Additional rehearsals may be added to the calendar.
- Students are expected to be in the theater with Mrs. Clement during rehearsals, not anywhere else in the school. They may not wander around except to use the restroom or get a drink. I may not be working with everyone at all times, therefore the students will be expected to sit and do homework or other quiet activities in the auditorium until I am ready to work with them. However. I will do my best to have all who are there involved as much as possible.
- I do not believe in having people at rehearsals when they are not needed. I try to be very considerate with people’s time. If you do have a conflict, mark it on your audition sheet. If I choose to cast you I will not schedule you to come to a rehearsal during one of your conflict times.
- If you DO NOT mark conflicts on your audition sheet do NOT come to me after you are cast and say you can’t make it to some of the rehearsals. Please be honest and forthright with me.
- I realize that emergencies occur and I will be flexible. (Your favorite show on TV or a Surprise trip to Disneyland is NOT an emergency!)
- If you are going to be missing the same day every week (such as every Monday) because of piano lesson, a sport, etc. it weakens your chances to being cast. If you have this problem, see if you can reschedule your “conflict” for a time that will not interfere with rehearsals. This will make it easier for me to cast you.
- A Call-Back occurs after the initial auditions – kind of like a first cut. It is a narrowing down process.
- If you do get called back you will be doing a cold auditions (I will give you a script there).
- This is an extracurricular activity so therefore it is not required for school. As such I will only allow serious, dedicated students to be in the cast.
- How can I tell if you’re dedicated?
- You treat all cast and crew members with kindness and respect
- You come to rehearsal on time, or better yet, early
- You come to ALL of your assigned rehearsals
- You pay attention when Directors and Stage Managers are talking
- You treat the auditorium with respect (No running around, lying on tables, or hanging in the curtains! If you have food or drinks clean up after yourself or I will revoke the privilege to have anything but water during rehearsals.)
- You spend the necessary time outside of rehearsal memorizing your lines so as not to let the other cast members down. MEMORIZATION DUE DATE:
- If you are tardy because you are make up work or retaking a quiz you will need to bring a note from the teacher or it will be counted as a tardy. Please arrange to meet with teachers before school, during Olympic time, or when you do not have rehearsal.
- Since this is an extra activity Mrs. Ashworth has the right to cut you from the cast if she deems it necessary
- If you ignore or do not live up to the expectations you will be cut from the show and will be replaced with someone who IS dedicated and willing to meet the expectations.
- Scripts are School Property. You can ONLY write LIGHTLY in pencil. If Script books come back damaged, marked in permanent ink, or highlighted you will be charged a $25 dollar replacement Fee.
- Some of you will get photocopied pieces of music. Because of copy write laws these you can write on with whatever you want but they must be returned to Mrs. Clement at the end of the show so that she can destroy them.
- Sign up for Remind!
- Sign your name next to the cast list.
- This indicates that you accepted the part! If you don’t do this within two days your part will be recast. Once I recast a part I will not take the part away from another student and give it back to you.
- Come to all of your rehearsals
- Memorize your lines
If you have other questions please email them to me I will email you back and I will post them and their answers the website for other parents.
